The Washington Post featured Silver Golub & Teitell's settlement for the family of Greenwich teenager Bart Palosz in a front-page article about how parents are resorting to the courts to hold schools accountable when school bullying leads to suicide.
The $5 million settlement between the family and the town of Greenwich, which was announced in February, is believed to be the largest municipal settlement of school bullying claims in Connecticut.
“We think that the size of the settlement reflects the magnitude of the Greenwich Public School system’s failure and, even though they don’t acknowledge it, their recognition of that failure,” SGT partner Jennifer Goldstein told the Washington Post. The publication also quoted Bart's sister saying her family's decade-long legal quest was a mission of accountability. “The whole time, we really wanted the school system to take responsibility for failing to do what it was supposed to do,” she said.
